Finally, after more than 5 years of development, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is launching today. The development team wishes to thank all the Ghost Recon community members who brought us their support, shared their feedback and their love for the franchise with us.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first military shooter set in a massive open world that you can play entirely up to 4 players in co-op or solo from beginning to end. With Bolivia as your playground, the team managed to create an authentic experience, both in terms of setting but also game experience.
From the beginning, the development team had in mind to work closely with the community. During the pre-production phase of the game, the Ghost Recon core team got in touch with Mattshotcha, an avid community member, in order to determine what the community expectations were for a new iteration of Ghost Recon. Then, the community team got closer to several community members and invited them to the Paris studio before the announcement of the game. They were also invited on many other occasions to discover the dev team’s vision for Ghost Recon Wildlands, and gather feedback to improve the game. In addition to these Community Workshops, the team kept in touch with this group of fans in order to improve the game in several areas.
Of course, the community team kept a close look at our official forums and subreddit to regularly share the community feedback with the dev team. Players’ feedback were all examined with a watchful eye to see if they corresponded to the dev team’s creative vision. Some choices were difficult to make, but were still taken in order to preserve the right balance of the game.
With our group of community leaders increasing, we were able to organize two more workshops. One to share with them the game’s improvement since its announcement in June 2015, and a third to introduce them to our Adversarial mode. We will share more information on the latter in the upcoming weeks.
